thought may as well start a new thread for the small updates on the club

good news re lichaa, 4 weeks on the shelf in manageable. 3 months to a season would have sucked, i thought he played quite well round 1, hopefully he builds on it.

Garvey can do a job filling in, not sure if he can go 80

It was good to see stanley last an entire 40 minutes but keen to see how holland goes

Fuck, Garvey is as tough as they come for a little bloke. Handled everything they threw at him comfortably. Lichaa might not have a spot when he's recovered if the bloke keeps doing that! Tried a bit too hard on occasion with ball in hand but it didn't cost them and shows he's got some attack in him.

Lichaa can sit out a few more weeks if Garvey is going to rack up scores like that!

Garvey defended well but his service was terrible, so many bad passes, made our forwards stop in their run countless times to catch balls. Lichaa generally delivers it in front where they want it

Lichaa will 100% slide straight back in (well unless Garvey goes to another level the next few weeks) but it's good having a decent back up in the squad

i'd like to go through the footage and see how many people have touched the ref since thaiday got done for it 3 years ago, seen guys like smith, ennis and lyon touch them a few times with no charge.

i get you can't touch them and klemmer broke that but he wasn't being aggressive and they are never consistent with this charge.

be watching it pretty closely the rest of the year, almost guaranteed that some will do it and not be charged

Yeah, it's not hard to enforce it. If there is evidence of any player touching the ref they go on report, regardless of the situation or the intention. Only way to keep it consistent.

IF they can find enough examples is there a chance they try and fight the charge. Personally I think it's clear cut if you touch the ref other than a handshake it should be a week, however if they can find precedents of people not being charged he must  be a chance of getting off.

they will fight it but they will lose

precedents or not, the rule is pretty black and white, can't argue his charge but i'll be frothing when several others get off during the year!

I'm not sure what the grades are for that, but from memory Thaiday only got suspended as he had carry-over. I also think what Thaiday did yanking his shirt saying "he pulled me back like this" is worse than tapping the ref and saying "excuse me ref..."

Either way, it's a pretty dumb thing to do. Sure you might not get charged, but you shouldn't even give them the chance to given how inconsistent the MRP can be.

Seeing Soward barrel into the ref last night (together with Carney doing it a few years ago) and then remembering JT got charged with it before origin a couple of years back makes you realise how inconsistent the MRP can be with respect to touching the ref.

yeah klemmer is only missing because of loading, i think he only has himself to blame, the footage shows absolutely no malice and if cummins didn't walk towards him he may not have even touched him but you can't argue he didn't touch him, he did

its just such inconsistent charge and i honestly feel if it was moses mbye or josh morris brushing the refs shoulder, they would have been charge free

Points for it seem low to me, an accidental shoulder charge is deemed worse than getting sent and deciding I'll just ignore the ref and do as I fucking well please.

well i think if it happened, the club would be looking at a huge fine and if he came back on during play, possible points deduction if they won

He'll be charged but as a clean record so I think will get 94 pts with an early plea, obviously means any little charge will cost him

Him getting charged probably hurts our chances of beating the klemmer one tbh lol apperantly we're gonna argue that if cummins doesn't walk forward there is no contact, worth a shot, it's 2 weeks regardless
